Matt Atkinson

Matt is a Canadian film director celebrated for his sharp sense of humor and keen cinematic eye, forged in the fires of Kids In The Hall marathons and Art House cinema binges. Before IMDb, Matt was the human Google for movie trivia, like who played Lt. Bogomil in Beverly Hills Cop. (It was Ronny Cox.)

To pay for film school, Matt worked in casting houses, where he fine-tuned his knack for working with actors and finding comedy in the mundane. Since then, he’s worked as a writer, editor, and actor, which has helped define his strength as a director of performance-based comedy.

Matt has directed campaigns for big-shot brands like Google, Visa, Ford, BMO, Meta, McDonald’s, NBA, Kraft, and others. His feature film, Room For Rent, won Best Feature at the L.A. Comedy Film Festival, Chicago Comedy Film Festival, and The Canadian Film Fest, along with Best Direction and Best Writing in a Feature at the Canadian Comedy Awards.

Matt attributes his successful decade-long career to his collaborative spirit and openness to embracing other people’s good ideas as his own. When he’s not writing things or filming things or watching things, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, eating, sleeping, and pretending to jog.
